Today, drive to St.Isaac’s Cathedral, the main church of the Russian Empire. The cathedral was under construction for 40 years and was decorated in an elaborate way. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided orientation tour of the cultural capital of Russia. View the dramy and picturesque River Neva; see the Nevsky Prospect lined with the marble palaces of Russian Royalty. Soak in the rich history of St.Petersburg, in The Church of the Spilled Blood, the Admirality, St Isaacs Cathedral, the Winter Palace, Menshikov Palace, Alesander Nevasky Monastery, Russian Museum, and the Peter and Paul Fortress, all of which emphasis the city’s architectual heritage and lineage. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Today, drive down to Peterhof, an erstwhile residence of the Czars of yore. Visit the Grand Palace, to be amazed with its fascinating & elaborate interiors. The world-famous Palace, Fountain and Park ensemble of Peterhof shines forth as a glittering landmark of Russia’s aesthetic culture in the 18th & 19th century. It’s wonderful parks, 176 fountains of various forms, majestic palaces, numerous gilded statues of ancient Gods and heroes, paintings and works of art and culture make Peterhof a veritable gem of art, often called the “Capital of Fountains”, unique in the world. In the afternoon, visit the celebrated Hermitage Museum, one of the most important museums in the world. It houses a fabulous collection of nearly three million works of applied art, archaeological finds, coins, graphic art and paintings in six different buildings. Overnight stay at the hotel.
This morning, travel to the lovely city of Pushkin – formerly Tsarskoe Selo, the Tsar’s Village. Take a tour of the Catherine’s Palace, a beautiful Baroquestyle building that was built by Empress Elizabeth and named for her mother, Catherine the First. Like many other royal residences, the palace sustained heavy damage during World War 2, although most of it has been restored to its former flory. In the afternoon, proceed to the station for your high speed train to Moscow. The sleek “Peregrine Falcon” for Russian, when it begins its renowned hunting dive, achieves speed of 330 km/hr (205 miles per hr). On arrival, transfer to the hotel through the busy city of Moscow. Overnight stay.
This morning, proceed on a guided orientation tour of Moscow, which includes the iconic Red Square and the stunning St.Basil’s Cathedral with its colourful onionshaped domes. Later, depart for The Kremlin, the ‘Walled Fortress’ of Russia that holds much of its history, politics and religion. The walls, originally of white stone, were rebuilt in the late 15th century, in their distinctive red brick. Today, the Kremlin houses four cathedrals, three palaces and two museums and is the official residence of the Russian President. It holds many of the treasures of the former’s Czars. What was once the Kremlin’s Armoury Chamber, was made into a museum of sorts. Next, take a metro tour. The stations of Moscow’s subway system are often called ‘the peoples palaces’ for the elegant Soviet-era design and the lavish and profuse use of marble, mosaics, sculptures and chandeliers. Later, stroll down Arbat Street, now an extensive and enthralling pedestrian walkway, filled with interesting shops and restaurants. in the evening, enjoy the world famous Russian Circus. After that return to hotel for a overnight stay.
